Getting old is inevitable. Giving in to the signs of the march of time, however, is not required. At Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of Delaware, we’re all about helping our patients look their best. Toward that end, we offer a new procedure, the Venus Freeze™, a non-invasive way to tighten your skin and boost collagen production.
What is Venus Freeze™?
Venus Freeze™ is a non-invasive anti-aging treatment that firms up sagging skin and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles by delivering radiofrequency energy into the skin’s second layer, the dermis. The procedure is comfortable, fast, works on all skin tones, and doesn’t need any downtime.
How does Venus Freeze™ work?
Venus Freeze™ is powered by multi-polar radiofrequency and pulsed electro magnetic fields. This technology is patented. Together, the two technologies produce uniform heating under the skin’s surface. When the heating is delivered into the dermis through the Venus Freeze™ handpiece, the skin reacts as if injured. The RF energy causes a thermal reaction in the tissue. The reaction initiates new collagen production in the treatment areas, along with increased production of fibroblasts and new elastin fibers. This combination of effects results in firmer, smoother skin, the tenets of a more youthful look.
Where is Venus Freeze used?
We find that Venus Freeze works best on facial skin that is showing the laxity and sagging that comes with age. Venus Freeze tightens up the jawline, the area around the mouth, and the cheeks. The procedure is safe and comfortable. Patients don’t need any topical anesthetic, and they can return to work or other activities immediately following their session.
How many treatments will I need and how long do they take?
Dr. Lonergan usually recommends 6-8 treatments for optimal results. They can be spaced one to two weeks apart. Each session lasts just 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the treatment site.
