Think of It As a Booty Call…to Action

Brazilian Butt LiftIt used to be that the models that graced the covers of Vogue or Elle looked as if they had been on a three-week hunger strike. The message was that to have the “in” look you’d get to eat a rice cake and maybe a tofu shake for the day. Puhleeze!

How things have changed. Now it seems celebrities are tripping over themselves to show off their more shapely booties. Much more realistic than the days of anorexia. It seems you can’t turn around without seeing the backsides of Nicki Minaj or Kim Kardashian. Meghan Trainor even sings about it.

But as you’ve aged, your backside has sagged and flattened. To round things out, though, you can enlist the help of Dr. Lonergan or Dr. Deleeuw and have them perform a Brazilian Butt Lift!

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

It used to be that women who wanted to augment their booty had to resort to butt implants. Butt, er but, the silicone implants were uncomfortable and tended to even shift position. Often they required revision surgery.

Enter the Brazilian Butt Lift, where a patient’s own fat is used for the augmentation. When contrasted with implants, the consensus seems to be that Brazilian Butt Lift augmentation delivers more natural-looking results.

How do they do a Brazilian Butt Lift?

This procedure has a secondary benefit in addition to the rounder booty — the patient also gets liposuction on a couple areas with unwanted fat pockets. This is especially effective when Dr. Lonergan or Deleeuw harvest fat from the waist, as this makes the later augmentation create an even more shapely end result.

A Brazilian Butt Lift procedure begins with sterile, closed-system liposuction. Fat is harvested from the unwanted area (most popular areas are the lower back, waist, flanks, thighs, and stomach) through liposuction. Small incisions are made. Local anesthesia is infused first, and then a thin cannula is inserted and moved back and forth to loosen the fat pockets in the area. The cannula then suctions out the fat. Up to three times the amount of fat that will be re-injected may be harvested. By removing fat, it not only provides the raw material for the buttock enhancement, but it also contours the areas around the butt for a more dramatic result.

Next, the fat, tissue, and blood that were suctioned out are processed to separate the fat. Dr. Lonergan/Deleeuw then re-injects the fat back into the buttocks through hundreds of tiny injections all over your buttocks. At Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we pay particular attention to the upper buttocks, so the entire area looks youthfully lifted.

How long do results take?

Results are immediately visible, but they keep improving with time because it takes some time for the fat to “take.” It can take a full year before a patient’s full results are visible. Over time, some of the initial volume from your fat grafting procedure will diminish. On average, patients retain 60 to 80% of the transferred fat, with the body absorbing the rest. The fat that takes is permanent.
